Turn It Up! A Hip Hop Debate

In this lesson you will learn how to persuade someone in an argument. You will learn: how to state an opinion, how to give reasons why you feel that way, how to defend your opinion by forming counter-arguments. You will also learn some major facets of hip hop culture and some arguments in favor of and against its place in American society. For the purposes of this lesson, phrases highlighted in blue are arguing tactics (phrases used to introduce and rebut arguments), green phrases are idioms, and red words are difficult vocabulary.
